Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of hardware and software components for IP communications systems, recently released a new product, the T116 16-Span Tapping Board, claimed to be the highest density board currently available. The T116 offers passive high-impedance tapping or digital telephony spans, providing telephony solution developers with a reliable, dense platform with which to build call monitoring, logging, recording, fraud detection and security applications.

With high-impedance circuitry that ensures no disruption or degradation of communications signals on the digital spans, the T116 board eliminates the need to insert a device that terminates and commences each call.

Furthermore, the T116 can monitor upwards of 240 individual calls, and is designed for global markets with its T1, E1 and J1 standards compliance.

As for open source projects such as FreeSWITCH and Asterisk (News - Alert) — as well as for proprietary PBX, switch, IVR and VoIP gateway applications — Sangoma has made APIs and source code software development kits available.

"With its support for up to eight digital spans on a single board, the T116 has double the capacity of any other passive tapping solution on the market. It is built on Sangoma's highly regarded PCI (News - Alert) Express interface board technology to ensure broad compatibility with commercial servers," said Simon Horton, Sangoma director of product management, in a statement.

"Developers of call recording and logging solutions have been limited in scaling their products due to the lack of high-quality and affordable boards that are compatible with open source and proprietary operating systems. The T116 breaks down these barriers and provides a scalable and reliable product that enables innovation," added Horton.

Sangoma boasts an industry-leading portfolio that enables a wide variety of disparate TDM and IP networks to interwork. Earlier this year, the company said it plans to continue releasing top-quality products this year in order to meet the market's communication needs, and the T116 board is part of that.

Earlier in March, CallFlex — a provider of telecommunications systems, call center systems and hosted services in Sao Paulo — turned to Sangoma's A116 Digital Telephony Board to provide the base for CallFlex Manager.
