AirWave Wireless Management Suite 6 Now Available

AirWave (News - Alert) Wireless, a global provider of vendor-neutral wireless network management solutions, has announced the release of AirWave Wireless Management Suite 6. Already known for its robust solutions to enhance the experience in a wireless environment, AirWave’s latest release is likely to build on its strengths.

This new release delivers significant new features for the Help Desk, management of 802.11n networks, monitoring of wired networks and viewing tens of thousands of wireless devices from a single console.

AirWave Suite 6 is a finalist for InformationWeek’s Best of Interop (News - Alert) 2008 network management award, and is being used to manage the multi-vendor wireless LAN at Interop Las Vegas 2008. This technology event is taking place April 27-May 2 at the Mandalay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The new AirWave Wireless Management Suite 6 software is designed to enhance the AirWave platform with new features for large and fast-growing wireless networks. Such enhancements will help to propel the market viability for the solution, while also helping to drive demand.

These features include: 802.11n Management to support products from leading vendors; wired and wireless LAN monitoring to facilitate comprehensive network analysis and more accurate diagnostics; dedicated Help Desk views and incident management to resolve end-user issues quickly; enhanced AirWave Master Console to provide centralized control and visibility; and intelligent capacity planning so expansion can be managed intelligently and cost-effectively.

“The new AirWave software offers intelligent lifecycle management for wireless networks, providing a smooth migration path from legacy networks to 802.11n,” said Greg Murphy, AirWave’s general manager, in a Monday statement.

“Instead of forcing customers to rip-and-replace their legacy network, they can instead add 802.11n on a schedule that meets their logistical and budgetary requirements. Many of the other new features in AirWave 6 are similarly designed to lower IT operating costs by enabling automated diagnostics, faster problem resolution, and greater visibility into both the wireless and wired networks.”

The AirWave Wireless Management Suite 6 is available now and will be on demonstration in both the AirWave Wireless and Aruba Networks (News - Alert) booths, 1581 and 1262, respectively, at Interop Las Vegas. The upgrade is available at no cost for existing AirWave customers enrolled in a support plan.

The flexibility, scalability and functionality that are inherent in wireless environments do not come without some costs. Not all wireless infrastructures will work in legacy systems, demanding a change. At the same time, not all software solutions will provide ultimate functionality and security in a wireless environment. It is because of these challenges that solutions like those offered by AirWave gain quick acceptance and dominance in the market.
