Sage Software (News - Alert) has announced the opening of its new facility in Richmond, British Columbia to house the Canadian operations and global development teams for its Sage Accpac ERP and Simply Accounting by Sage product lines.

The new building, which Sage Software has leased on a long-term basis, is immediately south of the former Sage Software Richmond operations center, and is located at 13888 Wireless Way. The new campus currently houses approximately 400 employees, with room for up to 650.

“Sage has a long history in Canada with our Accpac and Simply Accounting lines,” said Laurie Schultz, Sage Software general manager for Sage Accpac and Simply Accounting by Sage.

The new Sage Software campus facility has many new amenities, highlighted by a new User Centered Design lab. Sage Software uses UCD labs companywide to research product usability and the needs of small and medium-sized businesses for developing new products and services, such as Sage Accpac ERP, and Simply Accounting by Sage.

Last week, following the opening of its Manama-based Gulf office in 2007, Sage Software announced a Bahrain road show. Sage officials say the show already has “over 100 confirmed attendees.”

The point of the road show is for Sage officials to “educate Bahrain’s CEOs and managing directors on optimum business practices for their vertical industries, as well as guiding them on how best to use their technology investments,” Sage officials said.

“Bahrain is one of the most advanced economies in the Gulf region,” said Marc Van der Ven, Managing Director, Sage Software, Middle East. “Research shows Bahrain's economy is 80 percent free, and it’s the world’s 19th freest economy. However, we want to empower Bahraini companies to achieve much more through effective use of technology.”

Sage Software opened an office in the kingdom last May, and enabling closer collaboration with Bahraini companies and channel partners, such as Fakhroo Information Technology Services and Almoayed Group.

“We have been operational in Bahrain working closely with local partners. With our new products and our focus on Arabization, we understand what companies in Bahrain need,” said Jawad Squalli, Sales Regional Manager, Bahrain Based.

In mid-March Sage announced the general availability of the Sage FAS Fixed Asset Economic Stimulus Service Update 2008.1.1. Described by the Sage as “a response to the Federal Economic Stimulus Act of 2008,” the Service Update gives Sage FAS customers a way to “maximize tax benefits under depreciation provisions expanded by the new law.”
