Suppose you are a small business owner who’s decided to start a low-cost call recording program. For instance, you want to record your Skype calls and catalog them for your own protection or for later review. Or maybe you conduct job interviews via Skype for your business, and you want other company officers to be able to review candidates that you like after the call is complete.

DVDVideoSoft, a freeware developer focused on audio and video processing, has just released an application for download on its website that will record those Skype calls for free. Customers can choose to record all video, the other person’s video or audio for both parties.

The software requires Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 to function. Customers can stop and start recordings in the middle of the conversation, pausing the recording when discussing sensitive subjects and continuing once the topic has changed. Video files are saved in mp4 format, while audio files are saved as mp3s.

According to DVDVideoSoft, the application contains no spyware or adware, so, in addition to being free, the app is entirely safe to use.

Free Video Call Recorder for Skype is one of 49 utilities that DVDVideoSoft makes available for multimedia operations including video and audio downloading, editing and conversion. The utilities, which are form the company’s Free Studio program, will be available for Mac OS X sometime in 2013.

Free Studio 5.0 was the last free release of its utilities, according to a company statement. Free Studio 6.0 will be aimed at commercial customers, but customers will still have a chance to activate the software at no cost.

“This program will be of great use for anyone,” explained Alex Kelvin, CEO of DVDVideoSoft. “[The application works] for techs as well as for those who are not computer savvys. Basically, the program has only three buttons: Start, Pause, and Play, which will do all the job and record Skype calls easily.”
