NEC Corporation of Malaysia (NEC) announced partnership with Packet One (P1) Networks (Malaysia), a leading 4G operator in Malaysia, to jointly promote both companies’ products to SMEs and SOHOs in Malaysia.

Under the terms of the partnership NEC will serve as the technology partner while P1 will work as next-generation communications provider.

The companies have also announced the first series of promotions under this partnership. The "SIP-in-a-box" is a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking-based telecommunications solution that consists of NEC’s IP-PABX (SL1000 and SV8000 series) and P1’s fibre broadband and 4G wireless connectivity solution.

“We believe that through this winning partnership, local enterprise business owners will be able to enjoy not only the latest but state-of-the-art technologies that both parties will provide,” said Michael Lai, CEO of P1, in a statement. “As such, we look forward to a beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration with NEC."

SIP trunking enables Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) deliver telephone services and unified communications to customers equipped with SIP-based private branch exchange (IP-PBX) and Unified Communications facilities.

The technology allows businesses to scale their communications infrastructure up or down merely through software programming instead of being restricted by the traditional PSTN ports available in a specific location. The solution brings significant cost savings on call charges and maintenance.

NEC has come a long way in the development of telecommunications technologies over the years. The company now offers advanced communications solutions like PABX, IP and the latest Unified Communications.

“I believe this combination of NEC as a total solutions provider, together with P1's telecommunication services, will empower and benefit many enterprises and businesses,” said Andrew Lee, managing director at NEC Corporation of Malaysia, in a statement.

Lee further said the partnership will start a sustainable relationship where both NEC and P1 can jointly present their latest IT and telecommunications technologies to the Malaysian enterprises and businesses.

In a major global announcement recently NEC America announced the general availability of its UNIVERGE 3C Unified Communications and Collaboration (UC&C) software, enabling secure anywhere, anytime access with a common user experience across any device or environment.
