Telcentris, a provider of VoxOx In Business solution suite that includes Hosted PBX (News - Alert), SIP Trunks, Hosted Contact Center and related services, announced the availability of a short duration call service designed for outbound call centers, resellers and agents that cater to call center traffic.

The service is offered through the company’s wholesale division. The short duration call service is an answer to businesses’ need for conducting high volume short duration calls.

The launch of the new service has been made possible by recent equipment and network enhancements, as well as carrier negotiations that have resulted in new contracts and pricing, according to company officials.

Typically most carriers find calls under 30 seconds nprofitable because of their lower margins and higher license fee factor. In many industries, the short-duration calls are balanced with longer duration calls that have high margins. However, in outbound call centers, majority of calls end in voicemail, disconnected phone numbers or hang-ups.

"On average, outbound call center traffic tends to be between six and 30 seconds with many calls not answered at all, which makes it necessary to seek a specialized carrier to take on the high volume of short duration traffic," said Tad Nikolich (News - Alert), VP of business sales at Telcentris, in a statement.

"Our platform, which was built to give away our consumer service VoxOx for free to millions of users, was specifically designed to handle very high call volumes at very low infrastructure cost,” Nikolich added. “This has enabled us to create a short call service as part of our wholesale offerings."

The company offers two options to customers interested in purchasing this service. The first option is a flat rate per minute and an NPA (News - Alert)/NXX option, which offers different rates for every rate center to terminate calls. The second option caters primarily to resellers interested in offering this service to their call center clients.

"While most carriers don't want outbound call center traffic, we welcome it," commented Cliff Rees (News - Alert), president of Telcentris. "It's relatively easy for us to provide this service, and there are not many carriers out there that have spent the time building infrastructure that can handle short duration traffic at a low price."

Earlier this year, Telcentris (News - Alert) announced the expansion of its executive team with the appointment of Cliff Rees, a telecommunications industry veteran, as president.
