TMCnet's Call Recording Week in Review

It’s the weekend, and that means it’s time for a roundup of the best in TMCnet’s call recording news.

This week, IDC (News - Alert) released its results from its Worldwide Semiannual Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Applications Tracker. Their findings expect the CRM app market to reach $18.2 billion.

Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service are each expected to achieve double-digit growth in 2011.

“The global CRM applications market recorded a very strong performance in the first half of this year, with revenues totaling $9.2 billion,” said Wilvin Chee, associate vice president, Worldwide Software Trackers. “The semiannual year-on-year growth of 13.3 percent was a third stronger than what it was a year ago.”

Also this week, we learned that VoIP encryption is not exactly a mystery. In fact, Capture Technologies says it is the easiest way to protect your privacy when it comes to conversing with others.

As Capture officials explain, since VoIP is transmitted through a network, “encryption can protect your conversation just like it can protect other computer-based data.” And more good news -- encryption’s relatively easy these days. “Even if your VoIP carrier doesn’t have the protection you need, you can easily find it, in some cases, even for free.”

Since VoIP uses broadband networks to transmit calls, conversations are vulnerable to eavesdropping in the same way that e-mail and other Internet traffic is open to snoops. Attackers can also hijack calls and reroute them to a different number.

According to the report, transport Layer Security and IPsec (IP Security) are other options when it comes to securing your VoIP network. Capture officials explain it “while TLS encrypts data between two VoIP users, IPsec encrypts the data between two users and the applications that they may be using.”

Last but not least, Voiceserve launched their SIP-based PBX (News - Alert) for consumers and small businesses.

According to the article, the service is available over at  CalltoPBX.com, and it allows subscribers to establish a virtual telephone system and communicate free through the Web.

“The major initiatives we launched in 2011 have further solidified Voiceserve's position to capitalize on key industry trends,” said Michael Bibelman, Voiceserve's CEO, in a statement. “Our products represent the most advanced solutions available in VoIP communications and have been validated in commercial trials in five continents.”
